Waste Management/Blue Barrel Donates Services to the Santa Clarita Special Olympics
Trash bins and recycling containers are a significant contribution to making the day run smoothly
Santa Clarita, California – May 13, 2006 – Attendees at today's Santa Clarita Valley Special Olympics and Spirit Games, at Newhall Park will notice close to 100 Waste Management/Blue Barrel carts and bins on the site for trash and recycling services. Visitors might not be aware however, that these bins are the evidence of a five-year partnership between Waste Management and the Santa Clarita event.
Waste Management is providing the event with seventy-four 96-gallon trash carts, twenty-two 64-gallon recycling carts and three 3-yard containers for their waste needs. This is an in-kind donation worth $2,680 to the event and the Special Olympics program.
"This Special Olympics is so important to Santa Clarita and to the community of disabled athletes. It wouldn't be possible without the significant corporate support of companies like Waste Management/Blue Barrel said Chris Clark, Director of the Santa Clarita Special Olympics and Spirit Games. "Recycling and trash services are not glamorous, but they certainly are crucial to making our day a success."
"We are proud to be able to help out at this very worthy event," added Kevin Burke, Territory Manager of Waste Management/Blue Barrel. "We also want to remind visitors to the Special Olympics and Spirit Games to throw out their trash and to recycle their cans and bottles to help keep Santa Clarita trash free."
