A Parade Tradition Continues:
Waste Management to Donate Cleanup Services
Waste Management tackles trash and horse manure
at the Fourth of July parade
Santa Clarita, California – June, 2006 – Continuing a long tradition, Waste Management/Blue Barrel will be donating extensive cleanup services to the Santa Clarita Fourth of July Parade. The company will be providing drivers, a ten-member ground crew, trucks, horse manure cleanup, and 40-plus event boxes for recycling and trash disposal along the route. With an expected turnout of 25,000 spectators and 3000 parade participants—which include kids, dogs, car clubs and horses—parade organizers and Waste Management are planning for all contingencies.
Crew members are set to fan out along San Fernando Road, Lyons Avenue and Orchard Village Road to remove horse manure, collect trash and litter, and separate items for recycling. In addition, Waste Management will be joining in the celebration. The company’s new front end loader trash truck will be participating in the parade. This next generation trash truck uses clean-burning liquefied natural gas (LNG). Waste Management team members will also be on hand to distribute free goody items to parade-goers along the two-mile route. This year, some of the team members will be dressed as fruits and vegetables in order to remind parade-goers of Waste Management’s new raw fruit and vegetable recycling program.
Director of Public Sector Services, Susan Moulton explains, “Event cleanup, recycling, food waste recycling and even horse manure recycling are just some of the services we provide to Santa Clarita residents.
