Manure Recycling
Horse manure waste left on the ground contributes to urban runoff pollution. This in turn contaminates the local waterways, such as rivers and streams, harms aquatic life and increases the risk of inland flooding by clogging gutters and catch basins. Urban runoff, propelled by rain and irrigation, carries pollutants through the storm drains and directly out into our local waterways. Animal waste is a particularly harmful element of urban runoff because it contains bacteria that can make swimmers sick, and contains nutrients that can alter the delicate balance of our water's ecosystem, leading to the death of aquatic life.
Waste Management/Blue Barrel offers convenient weekly pick-up of horse manure in several different cart and bin sizes. Residents may receive a manure bin for $15 per month. Please call customer service at (661) 259-2398 for more information on sizes.
