WM Raises Money for Family Fund
After Sudden Death of a Young Employee

Santa Clarita, California – When Pablo Meza, 33, a driver’s assistant for Waste Management/Blue Barrel Disposal, passed away suddenly on January 20th, leaving behind his wife and three young children, employees at Waste Management felt shock and grief over the loss, but moved quickly to assist the family. Within two weeks, Pablo's WM family raised over $22,000 for the Meza family.

Drivers and other employees of Waste Management / Blue Barrel (Santa Clarita), Waste Management of Antelope Valley, and Waste Management of Sun Valley sent in contributions, which were matched by WM through February 3. "I've never been more proud to be a WM employee than now as I see many employees work hard to support the Meza family in a time of need," said Steve Kanow, District Manager.

Meza passed away in his sleep of a heart attack after complaining of fatigue earlier in the week. WM presented flowers and picture boards at the wake with condolences from all of the drivers, supervisors and office staff from Blue Barrel to Pablo’s wife, mother and brother.

Contributions for the Meza family can still be made in cash at WM / Blue Barrel’s office or by check payable to the Pablo Meza Family Fund and mailed to:
